Lordship in my Despatch No. 41 of 17th. February last, in
accordance with the request contained in the 6th. paragraph
of Mr. Lyttelton's Circular Despatch of the 26th. August,
1905; knowledge of, and interest in hygiene at Queen's
College appear to have advanced considerably between the
Mid-Summer Examination and the end of the year covered by
the Head Master's Report. Neither the Report of the In-
-dependent Examiners nor that of the Head Master on the
Mathematical work of the scholars is very satisfactory
and I again called attention to the practical bearings of
this subject in my remarks on the occasion of the annual
prize-giving on the 22nd. January last. It is too early
to say whether the results of adding Trigonometry and
Freehand and Geometrical drawing to the Curriculum as
proposed in paragraphs 3 and 4 of my Despatch No. 43 of
the 18th. February, 1905, have justified the experiment. 05

Chinese and the question of making promotions pari passu
in Chinese and English Classes referred to in the 6th.
paragraph of my Despatch No. 394 of the 7th. November,
